FRUIT EXHIBITION is an event centred on the best international graphic design and creative publications. Open to the public, Fruit Exhibition is the only event in Italy for paper and digital publishing including artists' books, catalogs, graphic design projects, periodicals, stationary and zines.
Join Bruno Ceschel, founder of Self Publish, Be Happy, for a two-day intensive workshop conceived for people interested in publishing their own photography book. Workshop participants will be given the necessary tools and insight to become publisher of their own publication. The class will cover the varied contemporary publishing ‘models,’ from the zine to the traditional perfect-bound photography book. Editing, sequencing, and design will be discussed both theoretically and practically. The class will also cover distribution and marketing options for finished titles. Each participant will present his/her own book project to the class and then realize their project using Adobe In-Design or other publishing software. The workshop will end with the presentation of the newly designed photography books.
Self Publish, Be Happy is an organization founded in 2010 that collects, studies and celebrates self-published photobooks through an ongoing program of workshops, live events, and on/offline projects. Self Publish, Be Happy has organized events in a number of institutions, including Tate Modern, The Photographers’ Gallery, and Serpentine Gallery, London; C/O Berlin; MoMA PS1, New York; and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen.
Self Publish, Be Happy’s London-based collection contains three thousand publications which have been submitted by self-publishers from around the world. Its offspring projects, SPBH Editions and SPBH TV, further expand the organization’s outreach and experimentation with different mediums.
