Event informations
The Portfolio Review is a public event and a platform to discuss and discover young contemporary photography. Each year emerging artists from all over the world get selected to present their work to an international panel of curators, critics and editors working in the field of art and photography.
The presentations are public and the images are screened with a projector offering both the specialist and general visitors of the Photo Weekend an insight into the artist’s process and methods. Besides getting exposure and feedback, the participating artists have the chance to win awards.
The Portfolio Review takes place at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf the hot spot of the Duesseldorf Photo Weekendduring which galleries, museums and other institutions offer a rich programme of exhibitions and talks.
Submission
You apply with a portfolio consisting of a PDF with no more than 25 pages, a CV and a statement of up to 300 words about your practice and/or the projects you are submitting.
The submission fee is 15 Euros and non-refundable. You pay via PayPal. You need to include proof of payment in your submission. Please make a screenshot your PayPal payment and attach it to your submission email.
If you cannot pay the submission fee, but still would like to apply, please do write us an email at info at portfolio-review.de and we will find a solution.
To submit, please send your documents (portfolio, CV, and artist statement) in one .ZIP-file not bigger than 10 MB to portfolio at portfolio-review.de. Please name the .ZIP-file: SURNAME_FIRSTNAME.ZIP
The submission deadline for the Portfolio Review 2017 is 22 December 2016 CET.
Checklist for your submission
· Portfolio (PDF with low-res images and up to 25 pages)
· CV (PDF max. 1 page)
· Artist statement (PDF max. 300 words)
· Proof of payment (separate from the .ZIP-file as a screenshot)
From all submissions we draw up a shortlist of 30 people that we pass on to the jurors who will vote for their favourite portfolios. On the basis of their votings we will draw up a shortlist of 10–15 artists who we invite to come to Düsseldorf to present their work.
