The first edition of Photo Open Up, International Photography Festival, will involve the entire city of Padua from September 21st to October 27th 2019 with exhibitions and events dedicated to the enhancement of photography as an extraordinary tool for investigation, expression and communication. Conceived and organized by the Municipality of Padua Department of Culture and Arcadia Arte with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova and Rovigo Foundation and the artistic direction of Carlo Sala (curator and lecturer at the Master in Photography of the IUAV University of Venice), the Festival , will explore photography from the 1800s to the current scene under the theme "Dialogues and Conflicts", transmitting to the vision of the general public names like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, Robert Mappelthorpe, David LaChapelle, Gabriele Basilico, Mussat-Sartor and many others .

Over the course of a month, the festival turned into a program made up of exhibitions, meetings, round tables, workshops and events that connect the network with the urban fabric universe, emphasizing the richness of the city's cultural and architectural heritage. The festival will in fact enter the main exhibition venues including: Musei Civici agli Eremitani, Palazzo Zuckermann, Galleria Cavour, Palazzo Moroni, Palazzo Angeli, Museo Antoniano and the Ex Macello Cathedral.
