Born and raised in Hereford, moved to Manchester, came back home to study photography and now living in Japan.

Ibaraki, one of the 47 prefectures that make up Japan, famous for sweet potatoes, natto and the board game Othello. Wedged between Fukushima, Chiba, and the Pacific ocean , Ibaraki was once a powerful region, but now plays a more subtle role against the its brash southerly neighbour of Tokyo. Within this prefecture lays 32 citys, Mito being the capital and also the focus of these photos. A city where time seems to be in flux, pushing and pulling between past and present, clinging on to its more prosperouss bubble days and wondering what happened. Although not as influential as it once was, the place and people still carry on with there routine, like we all do.

Photos taken in Mito and surrounding areas between 2014-2016
