LANDSKRONA FOTO FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 8–17 2017
This year we celebrate our fith year and Jenny Nordquist and Christian Caujolle, present a preliminary programme for the 2017 festival. The aim is still to attract established photographers from the whole world who have never before exhibited in Sweden – together with young Scandinavian photographers who are developing in strength. According to the curators, there will be more outdoor exhibitions in 2017, including works by the American artist Caleb Charland. The Citadel will be used once again as an exhibition space and Sofia Albertina Church is an interesting new addition. This year’s “Open Call†will be visible in shop windows all over the city centre, on the theme of “You and Meâ€. Among other promised exhibitions: the European premiere of a harrowing and acclaimed work by the photographers Carlos Ayesta (Venezuela) and Guillaume Bression (France), “Fukushima – No Go Zoneâ€, which portrays the consequences of the disaster that struck the Japanese nuclear power plant in 2011. Konsthallen, the city’s art gallery, will show, side by side, photographs by the French artist Olivier Culmann and the Swiss duo Cortis & Sonderegger. Both exhibitions can be said to challenge our collective memory. The Exercishallen venue will combine the recurrent Photobook Days with an exhibition of a project from the 1990s by the fashion company Benetton, “Fabricaâ€, a venture through which young, unknown photographers have since become internationally acknowledged photographers.
More exhibitions and programme items will be presented soon!
